Public Markets

Public places that facilitate interaction with local farmers, discussion of local foods, learning about food preparation and preservation, meeting other community members, and sharing in community events are fundamental assets that inspire local food economies and build food cultures.

For more information, contact Jeremy Solin at jeremy@farmshed.org.

Farmshed is working to improve and expand farmers markets in the area.  The Saturday Stevens Point Farmers' Market is the focus of much of our efforts, although we are beginning to work on the Plover's Farmers' Market as well.

Stevens Point Farmers Market

At the Stevens Point Farmers' Market our main efforts are the Chef on the Square events which will be held through the summer and fall on select Saturdays.  We'll also be organizing a couple Music at the Market events.

Plover Farmers' and Artisans' Market

Advisory committee meetings are being held to develop the Plover Farmers' and Artisans' Market each Wednesday at 7:00 pm at the new Emy J's in Plover (http://www.mapquest.com/maps/1819+Park+Ave+plover+wi/).  Interested farmers and vendors should attend or contact Jeremy at the email above or 715-342-4643.  Applications to sell at the market are available here. The market will be held Wednesday evenings (3:00 – 7:00 pm) and Saturdays (7:00 am – 1:00 pm). You can vend at either or both times.  We are planning to begin the market on Saturday, July 19th, but we need sufficient vendor participation to make it happen. So, please return your application soon.

A couple important notes about the Plover Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market:

•The market is free to vendors this year

•The market is overseen by an advisory board of farmers, artisans, community representatives, and local business owners

•Events and demonstrations will be held at the market to attract additional customers

•We want to make this an exceptional market for vendors and customers
