Food Preservation Workshops Summer/Fall 2008

 

Eating Summers’ Bounty All Year Long

Saturday, August 9, 2008    10am-noon   

Pinery Room, Charles White Public Library, Stevens Point

Sponsored by ICE (Interfaith Community for the Environment) 

Local residents will demonstrate how to freeze, dry and can summers’ produce to enjoy throughout the year.

*Optional trip (6 blocks away) to view a built-in home solar dehydrator at 12:30pm

No registration needed.

 

 

Canning Workshop

Tuesday, August 26, 2008    7:00 - 8:30 pm 

Room 1 and 2 of the Court House Annex building, 1462 Strongs Ave., Stevens Point

Pat Rychter, Family Living Educator, will discuss up-to-date canning methods, food safety and recommended equipment.

Room         of the Court House Annex,              St., Stevens Point

Ken  Schroeder, UW Extension Agent, will discuss management of existing root cellars and how to create root cellar like conditions in your home.

Applesauce Making Day

 

Saturday, September 27, 2008   1pm - 4pm  (Come for all or part of the time!)

St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 600 Wilshire Blvd., Stevens Point

Come join us in making applesauce from local apples.  Take applesauce home (for cost of apples) to put in your freezer. We will demonstrate three different methods for making applesauce in your home.
